Lynn MacLaren Argues Against Growing GM Crops in WA

The Greens are doing everything in their power to keep Western Australia a GMO-free state, even though the Barnett Government has lifted the ban.

The Minister for Agriculture lifted the ban on growing GM canola crops in WA following a trial which saw 11 breaches out of 17 trials. In March, the Greens moved a motion of disallowance, but the motion was lost on May 18, 2010.

Lynn MacLaren and her parliamentary colleagues will continue to take every opportunity to ban and restrict the introduction of more genetically modified crops in Western Australia.

Attached is the speech Lynn gave in the debate, where she argued for truth in food labelling in relation for GM foods.
