Fair Trade tasting session at City of South Perth

As well as being the MLC for the South Metro region, Lynn is also the WA Greens spokesperson for Food and GMOs.

So Lynn was wearing both hats when she attended a Fair Trade tasting session held at the City of South Perth council offices.

Lynn also met up with City of South Perth CEO Cliff Frewing, Deputy Mayor Sue Doherty and Mayor James Best.

Strong Voices Speak Up Against Uranium Mining in WA

There was a strong strong and vocal turnout for the annual rally against the National Uranium Conference outside the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle.

Speakers included Senator Scott Ludlam, Dr George Crisp from Doctors for the Environment, Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt an Kado Muir (pictured), well-known anthropologist, archaeologist and member of the Ngalia tribe in the Northern Goldfields, home of the proposed Yeelirrie uranium mine.

Hands off Point Peron!

Hundreds of people turned up on a wet and windy day with a clear message for the Barnett Government - "Hands Off off Point Peron".

Among the crowd at the rally were Greens MLC Lynn MacLaren and WA Senator Rachel Siewert.

"There is growing opposition to the proposed land grab and canal-style marina for luxury housing in this beautiful public reserve," Lynn MacLaren said.

During her speech, rally organiser Dawn Jecks addressed some of the misinformation and confusion being generated by the government about the development, including its location.

Greens Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff Bill

Recently launched renewables legislation from the WA Greens is expected to attract even more support following widespread disappointment at the State Government’s decision to clear another hurdle to a coal power resurgence in Collie.

The new legislation would greatly reduce the need to build more dirty coal-fired power plants and there is growing behind-the-scenes support for the Bill.
