Troy's tunnel vision won't fix congestion: Greens

Traffic CongestionThe millions Transport Minister Troy Buswell plans to spend on traffic decongestion would be better invested in a metropolitan light rail network to get more cars off the road, Greens MLC Lynn MacLaren said today.

Motion to scrap the Roe 8 extension to be debated in Parliament today

Hon Lynn MacLaren MLC, the Greens WA transport spokesperson, will today introduce a motion in the Legislative Council calling on the Barnett Government to abandon the proposed Stage 8 of the Roe Highway development, and to delete the current road reserve from the Metropolitan Region Scheme.

Ms MacLaren said “spending $620 million on building a road through one of the last remaining wetlands in the city is completely reckless from both an economic and environmental perspective. Every dollar that the Government spends on promoting this road is money that could be spent on sustainable transport solutions.” Read more »
