The Greens (WA) believe that:

  • The community service sector plays a vital role in sustaining our economy, and protecting and supporting many of our most vulnerable and disadvantaged community members
  • A well-funded community service sector is crucial to the provision of high quality community services and to addressing Western Australia‚Äôs pay equity gap
  • Not-for-profit and advocacy groups must be able to provide an independent voice in public debate and decision making without fear of repercussion or loss of funding
  • Competitive tendering diminishes the collaborative strength of the not-for-profit sector

The Greens (WA) want:

  • well-funded community services to strengthen social infrastructure
  • adequate and secure funding for not-for-profit welfare and advocacy organisations

The Greens (WA) will initiate and support legislation and actions that:

  • support improved and longer-term  funding for community services, including improved service provision in regional and remote communities
  • support a well resourced not-for-profit sector that provides direct advice to government on social services
  • close the gender pay gap in the community services sector (See The Greens (WA) Women policy)
