Lynn is one of six Members of the Legislative Council, which is the "Upper House" of the West Australian Parliament.
Lynn represents the more than 500,000 people in the South Metropolitan Region, which covers just over 780sq km.
The South Metropolitan Region includes suburbs south of the river from Victoria Park in the east to Fremantle in the west, and south to Singleton.
It contains 14 districts which are each represented in the Legislative Assembly - the "Lower House" of State Parliament.
These include Alfred Cove, Bateman, Cannington, Cockburn, Fremantle, Jandakot, Kwinana, Riverton, Rockingham, South Perth, Southern River, Victoria Park, Warnbro, and Willagee.
There are a total of 557,002 people living in this region and 50.3% are women and 49.7% are males.
1.48% of the people in the South Metropolitan Region are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
Approximately two-thirds of residents were born in Australia, and of the people born overseas, about one-third were born in the United Kingdom.4
423,362 people only speak English at home, whereas 104,157 people speak a language other than English at home.
