Walk Against Want
Apr 3 2011 08:30
Walk, socialise, eat and help save the planet (all in one morning!)
The Fremantle-Tangney Greens are supporting the Walk Against Want organized by the Fremantle Oxfam Group, starting at John Tonkin Reserve, East Fremantle at 8.30am on Sunday April 3rd. This annual 10km Walk Against Want is inspired by the long walks that many African women must make each day to collect wood and water for their families. The funds from the event go to a variety of Oxfam projects, such as providing seeds for farmers in East Timor and medicines for villagers in Laos.
Participants can choose to leave a donation at the end OR seek sponsors for their effort. To obtain a Sponsor Book, contact Cliff Collinson on 9339 6452 or visit the Oxfam Shop in Queen Street, Fremantle. Registration and sponsorship can also be done online.
After the walk, at about 10.30am, please join us for brunch and social chat at the Zephyr Café, which is located right at the finish point in John Tonkin Park. Families, friends and non-walkers are also welcome. Dogs, on a leash, are permitted in the park and under the palm trees alongside the cafe.
